The Brevet d'Initiation Aéronautique opens the world of aviation to high school students. For some, it is the start of a calling that lasts a lifetime.
A national certificate for discovering aviation
Open to high school students, the Brevet d'Initiation Aéronautique offers a first, rounded approach to aviation — its history, the principles of flight, meteorology, navigation. Every year we guide young people from the Gironde through it, not least on dedicated days such as “Aviation… why not me?”.
From discovery to the exam
Aviation knowledge
The history of flight, aerodynamics, meteorology, navigation: lessons are run with the school, usually across the academic year.
A day at the airfield
Nothing replaces a visit to Yvrac. Students meet our instructors and see the fleet up close, between theory lessons.
The national exam
A written exam, run by the national education system, confirms what has been learned over the year.
A discovery flight
Many students round it off with a discovery flight over Bordeaux — and that is often where the calling takes hold.

The Brevet d'Initiation Aéronautique is a national education diploma, run jointly with the French civil aviation authority. The syllabus and the examination arrangements change: the conditions in force at your local education authority and at the DGAC (ecologie.gouv.fr) are the ones that count.
